Open predictions desk →Brandon Nakashima leaned on a blistering serve and late-match aggression to beat Nuno Borges 6-3, 6-7(5), 6-3 in the Cincinnati round of 16. Nakashima’s 27 aces and unflappable serving under pressure offset Borges’ stubborn resistance, leaving the Portuguese to rue two costly breaks.
Arthur Fils beat fifth seed Alex De Minaur 6-3, 6-4 in the round of 16 at Cincinnati, advancing to the quarterfinals. Fils’s consistent return depth created nine break opportunities and two decisive breaks, while he saved both break points he faced to close out the straight-sets victory.
Tommy Paul rallied from a set down to beat top seed Alexander Zverev 4-6 7-6(6) 6-4 in the Cincinnati round of 16, overturning an early deficit with a nerveless tiebreak and a decisive late break. The win sends Paul into the quarterfinals and puts fresh scrutiny on Zverev’s serve consistency.
Thiago Agustin Tirante recovered from a first-set deficit to beat 14th seed Jakub Mensik 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 in the Round of 16 at Cincinnati, overturning early pressure with cleaner serving and steadier returns. Mensik’s late-match untidy serves and seven break-point opportunities against him proved decisive in a tight three-setter.
Flavio Cobolli rallied from a set down to beat Rafael Jodar 4-6, 7-6(3), 6-3 in the Round of 16 at the Cincinnati Masters, converting a tense second-set tiebreak into momentum and riding timely resistance on serve to close out the deciding set and reach the quarterfinals.
Frances Tiafoe edged Learner Tien in a tight, error-riddled three-setter at Cincinnati, prevailing 6-4 4-6 6-4. Tiafoe’s return depth and one decisive late break in the final set overcame an inconsistent serving day and a relentless, confidence-boosting fight from the younger American.
